 The VEGAS Collection

The VEGAS Collection started out as a study of the female nude.  The harmonious colours of Red, Orange and Yellow together with Black as a major contrast subconsciously made their way onto the canvas from preliminary sketches and initial computer manipulation from the photographs I had taken of my model.  Canvas 031 created in corresponding shades of brown and yellow and canvas 032 in blues were the only two paintings in this collection that did not follow the red theme – they were also the only two pieces that sold in the 2006 gallery exhibition ‘Female Nudes’.

The collection was later named VEGAS after a comment from another artist viewing my exhibition.  She was not very complimentary about my work at all and very loudly expressed her opinion that my composition, technique and use of colour was so vulgar that it wouldn’t look out of place in Las Vegas.  I took the critique as a compliment and instantly named the ten canvases ‘VEGAS’
